Starknet’s utilization of Celestia’s Blobstream offers several advantages. By leveraging Blobstream’s data availability capabilities, Starknet can ensure secure off-chain data storage, empowering Layer 3 chains within its ecosystem.
Data Availability Sampling and Scaling Solutions
Celestia’s pioneering introduction of “data availability sampling” has proved beneficial for scaling networks. This technique enables validators to sample a representative set of data for availability verification, bypassing the need for processing the full data. As a result, scalability and efficiency are greatly improved.
Multiple Layer 2 projects have successfully employed Celestia’s data availability capabilities to build scalable solutions. The combination of zero-knowledge proofs and data availability, known as Validiums, has proven to be an effective approach.
With this collaboration, Starknet intends to leverage Celestia’s expertise in data availability to develop Layer 3 chains within its ecosystem. This strategic shift aims to enhance scalability and allow for more diverse applications on the Starknet platform.
Exploring Partnerships for Data Availability Solutions
Before joining forces with Celestia, Starknet was in discussions with Avail, another prominent player in the space. Together, they were exploring the integration of a data availability solution for Starknet app-chains using Madara, a customizable sequencer.
While the collaboration with Avail did not materialize, the partnership with Celestia presents a promising opportunity for Starknet. By leveraging Celestia’s Blobstream, Starknet aims to accelerate the development of Layer 3 chains, providing a robust and scalable solution within its ecosystem.
