Valentine’s Day Upgrade for Cardano to Launch Today
The Valentine update, also known as the SECP, is anticipated to go live today, which will result in a big upgrade to the Cardano mainnet. The update will bring the mainnet up to protocol version 8, which was submitted by Cardano constructor IOG in association with the Cardano Foundation and Emurgo. The update is scheduled for February 14, 2023, at 9:44:51 UTC, and is anticipated to begin epoch 394.
Improved Compatibility with New Cryptographic Primitives
New cryptographic primitives will be added to Cardano with the Valentine upgrade, enhancing interoperability and allowing secure cross-chain dApp creation with Plutus. Additionally, the upgrade will enable new built-in Plutus functions that deal with ECDSA and Schnorr signatures, making it simpler for programmers to design cross-chain apps.

Temporarily stopping ADA deposits and withdrawals on Binance
One of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges, Binance, has declared its support for the Cardano hard fork and network upgrade. As a result, beginning at about 8:44 PM UTC on February 14, ADA deposits and withdrawals will be momentarily halted. Once Binance is satisfied that the revised network is secure, ADA deposits and withdrawals will once again be accepted. Users might not get a separate notification, though.
