Get Ready for a Busy Week Ahead: Key Earnings, Fed Speeches and Economic Data on the Horizon

An Investors’ High-Stakes Week is Coming

Investors may expect a busy week with several speeches from the Federal Reserve, new Consumer Price Index (CPI) data, and results from a variety of sectors, including oil and hospitality. Last week, both the Nasdaq and the S&P 500 saw declines, with the Nasdaq falling 1.56% and the S&P 500 declining 0.71%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, meanwhile, hardly moved.

February 13th, 2019

Starbucks is changing its rewards program on Monday, requiring more stars to redeem goods like beverages or items. Investors will hear reports from Angi, Avis Budget Group, Denny’s, and Palantir Technologies, a data analytics firm with operations in Ukraine, later on in the day.

Feb. 14th, Tuesday

John Williams of the New York Fed and Lorie Logan of the Dallas Fed will also deliver talks on Tuesday. The latter just disclosed the Federal Reserve’s intention to keep interest rates high for the foreseeable future. Earnings results from Cleveland-Cliffs, Coca-Cola, Ecolab, Eversource Energy, Exelon, Leidos Holdings, and Marriott International will also be released that day. Results from Airbnb, Akamai Technologies, GoDaddy, and Tripadvisor will be made public later in the day. Investors will also be closely monitoring the Consumer Price Index, which is anticipated to slightly rise, and the NFIB business confidence index.

Tuesday, February 13

The baseline budget and economic estimate for 2023 as well as a special report on the federal debt ceiling will be made public by the Congressional Budget Office on Wednesday. Investors will get updates on their results from AIG, Analog Devices, Biogen, Kraft Heinz, Krispy Kreme, and Taylor Morrison Home in the morning. Cisco Systems, Marathon Oil, Roku, Shopify, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, and Zillow Group will all be holding earnings calls following the market’s closing. A multitude of economic information will also be available to investors, such as retail sales, industrial output, the manufacturing index from the New York Fed, mortgage applications, company inventories, and the NAHB housing market index.

Friday, February 18

On Thursday, Crocs, Dropbox, Hasbro, Hyatt Hotels, Paramount Global, Shake Shack, and Toast will all release their earnings results. Applied Materials, Con Edison, Digital Realty Trust, DoorDash, RE/MAX, Redfin, and Texas Roadhouse findings will be made public later in the day. The Philly Fed Business Index, PPI, building permits, housing starts, first unemployment claims, and other economic data releases will all take place on that day.

Feb. 17th, Friday

AMC Networks, CenterPoint Energy, Deere & Company, and DraftKings will all release their earnings results on Friday morning, capping up the week.
