MEV-Boost crosses $162 million ETH milestone since Ethereum Merge

Since the Ethereum merger, MEV-Boost has crossed $162 million in ETH.

Over 100,000 ETH ($162 million) were recently given using the MEV-Boost Dashboard’s maximal extracted value (MEV) tool, marking a notable accomplishment in the Ethereum block-building process. Since the Ethereum Merge in September last year, this milestone has been attained.

Since 2023, Flashbots have dominated Ethereum blocks.

Since the beginning of 2023, the majority of Ethereum blocks have been processed by Flashbots, according to statistics from the Flashbots dashboard. Hasu, the strategy lead for Flashbots, claimed that this achievement is evidence of the advancements achieved in block construction after The Merge.

Rivalry in the MEV Sector

Flashbots was one of the few early adopters in the MEV industry in the past, but there are currently 8–10 builders vying for market share. In this cutthroat atmosphere, Hasu thinks MEV-Boost is doing a good job.

Debate Regarding Censorship of Flashbots

Despite being widely used, there has been some controversy around Flashbots’ ability to filter transactions that are processed through Tornado Cash, a privacy provider. MEV-Boost was created to reduce centralization in the MEV area in order to remedy this.

PBS’s Response to Censorship

In the MEV ecosystem, proposer-builder separation (PBS) may be able to combat censorship. Alchemy claims that PBS divides block construction from assignment, giving each task to a different position on the network. MEV-Boost, according to Hasu, is a proto-PBS since it is an external piece of software that relies on trust assumptions, but it has the advantages of being implemented more quickly and allowing for market design iterations before any protocol modifications are made.

Financial Advice

As usual, research should be done in-depth before making any financial selections.
