Cardano Founder Rejects XRP Partnership Amidst Community Harassment and Misalignment

The Ongoing Discord Between Cardano and XRP

In the realm of cryptocurrencies, no rivalry has endured as long or as contentiously as the one between Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, and the XRP community. Their frequent clashes and public disputes have become synonymous with the industry, with both factions never missing an opportunity to express their mutual disdain.

Recently, an ardent XRP supporter resurrected an old comment made by Hoskinson about XRP. This remark, made a year ago, was highly critical of the XRP community. Hoskinson dismissed the prospect of collaboration between Cardano and Ripple, labeling the XRP community as “toxic and petty.”

David Schwartz, Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer, intervened, urging Hoskinson to rethink his stance. However, despite Schwartz’s appeal, Hoskinson remains resolute in his opposition to any potential partnerships with XRP. He justified his stance by referring to two years of what he termed “harassment” from the XRP community and a perceived lack of technical synergy between Cardano and XRP.

Incompatible Visions

Hoskinson further elucidated his position, emphasizing that XRP was fundamentally tailored for a different market and purpose. He stressed that comparing XRP to blockchain platforms like Ethereum, Polkadot, or Algorand, which tackle similar challenges, would be misguided.

According to Hoskinson, XRP primarily serves as an interbank settlement system and a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) framework, instead of a decentralized smart contract platform.

Moreover, Hoskinson expressed reservations about the feasibility of collaboration with the XRP community due to what he described as “personal attacks, harassment, and an utter inability to have a conversation.” In response, the XRP community retaliated with memes and allegations of corruption, perpetuating the cycle of animosity between these two factions.

As this feud continues, the complexities surrounding the situation deepen, making a resolution seem increasingly remote.
